Coaching Highland

Coaching Highland is the central forum for coaching development in the Highlands of Scotland. Their site holds lots of useful information programmes and access to a series of resources designed to support sports individuals and organisations.

Most of the website is only available to registered members and registration system has been programmed into the site to enable this. Their aim is to grow an online community of sports coaches in the Highlands allowing users to communicate with other coaches and to be kept informed of news, courses and available resources.

Plexus have been involved with this project for several years, and have overseen considerable development of the site and its functionality. Originally a much simpler site, as Coaching Highland has developed more, and more specialist functionality, especially in the members sections of the site, meant that a significant upgrade and redesign became necessary quickly.

The new design and administration system is now better able to cope with further growth, and makes it easier for us to add new functionality as and when its needed by Coaching Highland.

Now if only they could convince us to take more exercise an cut down on the buns.

Landlord! Another Chelsea, if you please!

Updates:

  • 30 August 2006 – Coaching Highland Revamp

We have just completed a visual redesign of the successful Coaching Highland website.

  • 4 February 2010 – Coaching Highland Upgrade

We’ve just completed a major upgrade of the Coaching Highland website using version 5 of our WebStarter system – well to be honest, it’s probably version 5.5 by now, and certainly holds some of the elements which will go into the next version of our system.

We’re using jQuery in many of our sites now, to enhance the look and functionality of sites. On Coaching Highland you’ll see a number of examples of this – a smooth slideshow in the header, animated menus which don’t immediately disappear when your mouse slips off them and extensive validation in the forms used throughout the site.

The menu in particular was fun – split into two, the right-hand half holds pages available to members only. Coaching Highland can easily move pages in and out of this area as required.
