Highland Birchwoods was formed in 1992 as a partnership of the Forestry Commission, Scottish Natural Heritage, Highland Council and Highland & Islands Enterprise to promote best practice in the management of woodlands and forests.
Highland Birchwoods have had a basic web presence for quite a few years, but though it had served them well, this was showing distinct signs of age as well as proving problematic when updates were needed.
They asked Plexus to design a visually appealing new site which would combine ease-of-updating with clean styling and straightforward navigation. It was also necessary that powerful document management and distribution facilities should be built in to the site so that the organisation could stay on top of providing detailed information to their users and partner organisations.
Update: mid 2010 Highland Birchwoods decided that the time was right to change the layout of the site to reflect the take up of much larger computer screens by users. However, they were very happy with the overall look, and asked us to retain this whilst widening the design. Job done quickly and smoothly.

- improve conservation and biodiversity values
