In 2018, High Life Highland (HLH) took over the provision of music tuition of 50 instructors in 200 schools to thousands of school children throughout the Highlands – the largest local authority area in the UK. They turned to Plexus.
Prior to HLH management, the music tuition service was run with a system based on paper records and a collection of spreadsheets.
In only 3 months we built a part-public, part-private online system tailored precisely to allow HLH to manage the task. We set up a public area where parents can find out about the tuition available, register themselves and their children, request tuition and keep an eye on their application.
We also built an extranet which allows the instructors to view the records of pupils they are already teaching and record their attendance and progress, accept or reject new pupils and where they can manage their stock of instruments from any location in the Highlands, no matter how remote. And we built an administration area where the office can set up direct debits, payments and exemptions, create reports and analyse performance.
All of this is entirely bespoke, custom-built to work perfectly for High Life Highland. And when tweaks or improvements are needed we’re on hand to make life even easier. While not the only reason for growth of the service, we are delighted to have played a part by providing an information management system which has contributed to an increase of 21% pupils receiving tuition in just under a year of operation.
